As part of a successful partnership with American Express Publishing, Ultra 16 was chosen to redesign flagship title Travel + Leisure's website. In the challenging landscape of print media, transitioning editorial content from paper to pixel is paramount to remaining at the top of the industry. Ultra 16 tapped into our deep history of work in media, entertainment and with blue chip print titles, to guide T+L into the next evolution of their digital publication.

Challenge

Travel + Leisure were looking for a clean, elegant and modernized design for their website. In addition to a new look and feel, Ultra 16 was tasked with re-envisioning the user experience to add community aspects as well as updated functionality for web 2.0 savvy users. Altogether deliverables ranged from strategy, information architecture, user experience design, visual design and HTML development - all as part of a coordinated multi-agency and internal client project team.

Solution

Working in conjunction with Travel + Leisure client and external technology partners, Ultra 16 created a clean, smart UI transforming the T+L brand into a digital destination. The new T+L connects readers not only to editorial content but to each other. The design incorporates blogs, interactive maps, user tips/profiles and comments to create a community for avid upscale travel set. Spent time in Morocco? Slide shows showcase the magazine's award winning photography, while deep channels of editorial content are easily accessed via intuitive navigation, all the while engaging users to interact with content.
